The Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Tyrese Maxey, known for his high-scoring abilities, indeed eyes the NBA title. He caught the attention of fans in his rookie season with an average of 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. Maxey has come a long way since then.

Selected by the Sixers in the 2020 NBA draft, ‘Mad Maxey’ is an integral part of the team. He can eventually switch to a point guard position as well if needed. In a recent podcast, Maxey received praise from a former Sixers player.

Tyrese Maxey’s ‘sense of normalcy’

In a recent appearance at The Old Man and the Three podcast, the 22-year-old opened up to J.J Reddick. Reddick, the former Sixer himself, introduced Maxey in a vibrant manner. He spoke about how Tyrese is a jewel to be around. He went further to add that he has a great life perspective.

They exclaimed how Maxey faced a lot in his life but always faced challenges with a smile. He was also reported to be smiling at that very moment in the podcast. Reddick refers to Maxey’s college basketball season’s cancellation in the podcast.

“His sense of normalcy is drama and dysfunction,” said Reddick. He added, “I don’t mean just in reference to the 76ers, I mean in terms of circumstances. His college basketball season got canceled, didn’t have a proper pre-draft process, his rookie year was my last year, in which we had Covid protocol, no fans and all that.”?

Reddick mentions how the unfortunate events of Covid affected the game. Tyrese, in particular, got affected because he was in his rookie season.

The Sixers’ James Harden saga

Tyrese spoke about his Sixers teammate and 10-time All-Star, James Harden. The latter is highly displeased with coach Daryl Morey and wants to be traded. The LA Clippers seem to be the possible destination for the star point guard. Tyrese said that Harden did not make things awkward for the team management. He came to the ground, worked hard, did the drills, and even spoke to younger players whom he did not even know.

Harden was not likely to be present at the training, in light of his missing the media day and the first practice day. Sixers coach Morey believed that Harden would be crucial for their team. The Eastern Conference is far more competitive this season. However, he would surely not want the player in such a bad mood.
