During the NBA Summer League game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Orlando Magic, the 19 YO rookie engaged in a conversation with commentators Beth Mowins and Stephanie White. As Scoot was being interviewed about his experience, he couldn’t help but shift the focus from himself to his teammates.?

Throughout the game, as the Blazers embarked on an impressive run in the second quarter, Scoot continued to provide unwavering support from the sidelines.

When asked about what he does off the court with them, he says, ?Really just chilling, you know, hanging out. We got like 3 minutes stuff, and they got like a treatment room or whatever. So, we just been hanging out there sometimes and you know, just hand each other phone scene…? before interrupting by cheering for one of his teammates who had just scored.

Scoot’s genuine desire to see everyone succeed was evident in how he spoke about building relationships with this new team. “I’m trying to get my teammates right,” he explained during the interview,?”Just to build that relationship right now…we all here to support each other.”

Scoot recognized that success comes when individuals work together cohesively as a unit.

Drafted third overall by Portland Trail Blazers, there are high expectations from Henderson. Reflecting back on the draft night during another part of the interview, he expressed gratitude for having family members present during this milestone in his career, “That was a special night. The night I won’t obviously forget.” (He kept interrupting, though, “Oh, foul is it?”)

He continues, “It was a great night. But I was just happy that my family was there and know the fact that I’m coming to Portland, you know, and I wanted to play at Portland.”
