A day after his impressive hole-in-one, Stephen Curry won the American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe by sinking a dramatic eagle putt on the final hole. The victory makes him the first active professional athlete to win the ACC event since 2000.

Regarding basketball players with an endearing love for golf, Michael Jordan appears prominent in thought. The NBA legend detoured after his retirement to take on his passion for golf. With Curry’s fresh feat, it was obvious that comparisons between the two would chime in. As expected, the influx of comparisons began mere hours after Steph’s victory.

Is Michael Jordan a better golfer than Stephen Curry?

Michael Jordan and Curry both have displayed immense love for the game of golf. Although the two basketball legends could never intertwine on the hardwood, they have had multiple chances to play together on the green. One can say that golf has bonded the two uniquely. In fact, Steph and Jordan sat down to chat before the 2021 Ryder Cup, a premier bi-annual golf event.

Throughout his basketball career, ‘MJ’ frequently played golf, often engaging in high-stakes gambling. Even though he has a career handicap of 1.9, professional golfers with wins on the PGA TOUR have publicly admitted to losing to Jordan. 

In his passion for the sport, Jordan constructed an exclusive course, Grove XXIII, near his Florida residence. Additionally, he hosts an annual celebrity golf tournament to raise funds for charitable causes.

However, Jordan’s trophy cabinet is devoid of a golf title. While Curry had his armor empty so far, the 35-year-old now has the ACC win under his belt.

Even before his stint at Lake Tahoe, Curry was a prominent figure in golf. He has constantly competed in celebrity games during the off-season. He has played at two events on the PGA TOUR itself, albeit under a sponsor’s exemption. 

Back at Tahoe, a confident Curry sank a crucial putt on the 18th hole to secure victory in the celebrity tournament. His final score of 75 narrowly edged out former tennis professional Mardy Fish, who concluded the tournament with a score of 73.

But has his win decided the debate over who’s the better golfer between Jordan and Curry?

Given the competitive nature of Jordan, it is not unlikely that the two can probably battle it out in another charity golf event.

Jordan has been outspoken on his habit of betting, even when on the greens. According to reports, he once bet nearly $300,000 on a single hole!

The numbers don’t lie. With so much success on the court already, can Curry channel his energy on the course for a short duration now?
