The Boston Celtics have been one of the most successful franchises in NBA history. In fact, they have won 17 NBA titles, the joint most in NBA history. However, their last title came fifteen years ago in 2008. Since then, the Celtics have emerged as one of the most consistent teams. However, their impressive performance over the past decade has not translated into winning an NBA championship.

The Celtics have once again commenced the season with exceptional form. They have won their last five games and face the inconsistent Memphis Grizzlies in their next match-up.

After a disappointing end to last season in which they lost to the unfancied Miami Heat in the Western Conference finals, the Celtics’ front office made moves to strengthen their roster. They traded away their team’s emotional leader Marcus Smart for Latvian big-man Kristaps Porziņģis. They also acquired lock-down defender Jrue Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers. The new acquisitions have played a crucial role in the Celtics’ current season success, propelling them to the top position in the Eastern Conference. They have won ten games from a possible twelve and are on a winning streak of five consecutive wins.

The Celtics face the Memphis Grizzlies in their next match. The Grizzlies have suffered this season without their franchise cornerstone, Ja Morant. They currently hold the 13th position in the Western Conference standings, having secured three wins and suffered seven losses. However, the Celtics may have to compete without Jaylen Brown, who sustained an injury to his right abductor in the game against the Raptors. They could start the game with Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Kristaps Porziņģis. The Grizzlies also have significant absentees in Morant (suspension) and Steven Adams (knee) and Marcus Smart (ankle). Memphis’ starting lineup is expected to feature Gilyard, John Konchar, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Santi Aldama.
