Jimmy Butler is back at it again. Miami Heat fans are in no shortage of Butler quirks. Having said that, fans simply can’t dismiss Jimmy on his peculiar character either. After all, his personality has made a major impact on the overall development of him as a brand.

The latest addition was the launch of BigFace, a coffee enterprise that started more out of a need. It slowly transcended into a passion project. Coffee lovers will understand the need for a good cup of coffee every morning (and more throughout the day). When one of those lovers has the means and drive to get the grind on, a brand like BigFace Coffee will be born.

When “Jimmy Buckets” starts a coffee brand, it’s a given that people, non-coffee lovers included, will pay a visit at least once. After the initial excitement has worn off, even Butler will have to find creative ways to increase sales.

Butler’s recent comment about his willingness to choose coffee over an NBA ring doesn’t sit well with Kenyon Martin, former NBA power forward. In Gil’s Arena podcast, he said as much, “A great slogan to put on a f’***ing billboard.”

Fans can understand the indignity some of these basketball players are showing. All these men spend the best years of their lives sweating and hustling day in and day out. To make a name for themselves. Get a title. Mark their name in history.

And then, in walks Jimmy, saying he wouldn’t want a ring if it meant he’d have to get rid of his coffee.

How Butler’s offensive comment is nothing more than a sales ploy

The podcast also included former NBA guard Rashad McCants as well. While he maintained that Butler was simply “trolling, don’t even buy into it,” Kenyon just couldn’t digest it. He said that it was an excellent sales strategy on Butler’s part.

The coffee must be really good for even Jimmy Butler to not want to give it up for a chip. The offensive comment first came to light from Sports Illustrated‘s Rohit Nadkarni.
