38-Year-Old Caddie Has Already Earned More Than 158 NBA Players, Thanks to Scottie Scheffler

The partnership between golfers and their caddies is a crucial aspect that often goes unnoticed by the casual sport-goer. While the golfers take centre stage and receive accolades for their performances, it is the caddies who carry the clubs and help strategize during tournaments. They are also the key advisors during the game. Also, what a good deal may not realize is that caddies earn a substantial amount of money through their golfers’ achievements.

Such is the case with Scottie Scheffler’s 38-YO caddie. Scheffler is having an impressive year on the PGA Tour. But it’s not just Scheffler who’s benefiting from the rewards. Veteran caddie Ted Scott is getting richer with Scheffler than most NBA players.

Scott’s earnings have surpassed many NBA players’ salaries

According to Golf Data Analyst Rick Gehman, assuming Scheffler pays 10%, Scott has earned $2,101,434 this season alone. 10% is the standard rate for caddies on the PGA Tour, but it’s still a lot of money when your golfer is winning as much as Scheffler is. This would put him 79th on the money list between Matt NeSmith and Ben Griffin. 

That’s more than the salaries of 158 NBA players, including some big names like Julius Randle, John Wall, and Eric Gordon. This is an incredible feat considering that Scott is a caddie and not a professional athlete himself. His earnings are indeed vouching for the value of his work and the impact he has had on Scheffler’s wins. 

Ted Scott is a veteran caddie 

Scott began his partnership with Scheffler in late 2013, and since then, they have won four times on the PGA Tour. He has decades of experience and has worked with some of the biggest names in golf, including Tiger Woods and Adam Scott.

If he is getting 10% of his golfers’ winnings throughout his career. Considering the success of the golfers he has caddied for, it is no surprise that he has a massive amount. His skills as a caddie prove how sometimes those behind-the-scenes contributors can end up out-earning even some of the highest-paid athletes in other sports.
