Despite being the defending champion, the Golden State Warriors were forced to make an early exit from the NBA Playoffs last year. ‘The Chosen One’ himself, LeBron James, came up with a near triple-double performance to oust the Dubs, which led to a sad ending for its marquee player, Stephen Curry.

However, the loss could be a blessing in disguise. An early exit meant ‘Chef’ got more time on his hands to focus on his other love, golf. With the illustrious American Century Championship on the horizon, three-time winner and NFL legend Tony Romo fears for his crown at the hands of the ‘Golden Boy’.

Tony Romo is a football legend who has excelled as a four-time Pro Bowl quarterback and has over 34,000 passing yards in his illustrious NFL career. Furthermore, he has a successful track record on the golf course, winning the American Century Championship, a prestigious celebrity event near South Lake Tahoe, thrice so far.

Having won last year, Romo is the defending champion for the celebrity tournament. But when asked about his competitors, the 43-year-old mentioned NBA superstar Stephen Curry in the loop. “He’ll (Steph Curry) have more time than this year; he’s always coming in the week after. He’ll be in the mix this year ? that’s the guess.”

Curry’s upcoming 10th appearance at the American Century Championship fuels excitement, as the point guard aims to impress on the golf course once again. With consistent strong showings and notable finishes in previous years, he enters the tournament as the 6th favorite, with 8-1 odds.

Romo’s fear might seem stoked, but Curry’s golf skills are beyond any regular enthusiast. The three-point specialist has a plethora of achievements in the individual sport, which could be worthy of an excellent scratch golfer.

With Steph’s ability to hit long-range shots with ease, golf sounds like a sport curated for him. Surprisingly, he has a couple of participation in the PGA TOUR itself, albeit with a sponsorship exemption.

During the NBA offseason, he made a remarkable appearance at a celebrity golf tournament in Las Vegas, which was played as a part of Capital One’s ‘The Match’. Though he lost that game, Curry looked assured with a club in hand.

His next golf endeavor will be at the American Century Championship, which raises funds for national and local charities through a $600,000 purse. With over $7 million donated to the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and local charities, this prestigious tournament features a 54-hole modified Stableford format.
