The Golden State Warriors are still at the bottom of the Pacific Division with a 24-25 record, and sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference. Riding on a three-game winning streak, the Dub Nation will try to extend their dominance against the visiting Phoenix Suns tonight. The struggling team was without their guard Klay Thompson on Thursday against the Indiana Pacers, who was ruled out just a few hours before tip-off due to an illness.

Tonight, his availability looks optimistic as sources suggest he might suit up for the game. The last game that the Splash Brother played was against the Sixers on Wednesday, where he recorded 18 points, three rebounds, and one assist over 8 minutes of game time, contributing to the Warriors’ 104-127 win. His illness has been a persistent problem recently, and it has caused some uncertainty regarding his availability in the last few games. However, tonight could be different.

As per an X post by Underdog NBA, “Klay Thompson (illness) not listed on injury report for Saturday.” Thompson will most likely be playing tonight. In the previous game that the Warriors played against the Pacers, Thompson was replaced by Brandin Podziemski in the starting lineup. He will resume his starting spot tonight alongside Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Andrew Wiggins. It is unclear what illness Thompson suffers from, but things are looking up for the 4X NBA Champion.

This season, Klay Thompson has been averaging 17.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. It is no secret that the once 3-point sharpshooter alongside Steph has been diminished to a mere shadow of his former self. Thompson himself acknowledges the drastic drop in his performance, but if the Warriors are serious about a title run, Thompson needs to pick himself up.

Klay Thompson needs to do better for the sake of the Warriors

Following a poor performance from Thompson this season, it was expected that he would be traded before the deadline. Since that did not happen, the Warriors will have to look for ways to make an impact using their current roster, which includes Thompson. He has been recording career-low shooting percentages of 37.7 3P% and 41.7 FG%. After not getting traded, he should take this as a sign to pull up his socks and turn things around.

He showed promising signs of improvement in Wednesday’s game against the Sixers, but it is too soon to make any judgments. His contribution is key in the Warriors’ hope to make a deep playoff run, and he needs to pick up his form. To be fair, Thompson has had his share of serious injuries which could potentially be slowing him down, but at this point in the season, do you think he can figure it out and pull up like his old self? Or is he a lost cause? Share your thoughts!
