The Golden State Warriors recently suffered one of the most humiliating losses in franchise history. The Boston Celtics dominated the squad for a 52-point game victory. Notably, the Dubs were without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green on the court for the majority of the time. However, it came only after the Celtics put on a humongous 82-point half, in contrast to the Warriors’ dismal 38-point display. Regardless, Green thinks the Warriors did not enter the game with their best foot forward, inviting an unfavorable outcome.
Green claimed that the Warriors did not implement a flowing defensive strategy, touching base with it only 15 minutes before the tip-off. Even though it did not favor the Warriors, Draymond ultimately looks at it as a “fun try,” excitedly expressing enthusiasm for the experimental approach.
Draymond Green said the Warriors implemented the strategy to sag off Jaylen Brown “like 15 minutes before we left the locker room.”
“I thought it was fun to try. I was actually all for it.”

Green’s comment highlights the Warrios’ strategy to neglect Jaylen Brown on the three-point line, offering little to no resistance. Throughout his career, Brown has been a near 37% three-ball shooter, hovering around the 35% mark this season. Golden State’s tactic aimed to retain energy on the defense by allowing Brow a low-probability shot. With that, the Warriors began the game leveling against the Celtics, leveling the score to 21. However, their approach quickly turned against them, as an open three allowed Jaylen to find his rhythm and post a humungous 19-point first quarter.
Moreover, Brown only played 22 minutes in the game, racking up 29 points. Moreover, the unintended series of consequences saw Brown shooting 11-19 from the field and 50% (5-10) from the three-point line, emerging as the turning point in the game.
Jaylen Brown believes the Warriors have passed on the torch
In the last 10 years, no team has enjoyed success like the Golden State Warriors. Forming a roster from scratch, they lifted 4 championships, being the most dominant franchise in the last decade. Moreover, after a rocky start to the 2020s, they orchestrated a comeback, winning the 2022 title.

Nevertheless, the Warriors are far separated in time and in the record from being the 73-win team they once were. They are currently struggling to stay in the playoff race. Meanwhile, the Celtics maintain a top record in the league. With that, and a sense of respect for the Warriors, Jaylen Brown believes that it is now the Celtics’ time to shine and bring in the flashiest of lights.
I asked Jaylen Brown the feeling of knowing an opponent can't guard your team. "It feels great but at the same time it’s always within humility. Any given point that could be us and we don’t take the game for granted. We didn’t come out and mess around. That’s just how we show…

During the post-game discussions, Brown highlights the boost in confidence that the Celtics’ winning record sparks. However, he then acknowledges the importance of humility, claiming to set them apart. Moreover, he then echoes the team’s grounded approach, stating that Boston is ready to assume the mantle that once was Golden State’s.
