The 7’5 French phenom possessed incredible offensive skills combined with high defensive attributes. Before the Summer League, Wembanyama urged players to “skinny up” instead of asking him to get stronger. His remarks sparked several debates regarding his fitness. The Frenchman then went on to have an underwhelming outing on his San Antonio Spurs debut. The questions regarding his strength skyrocketed after this incident.

Although, he was quick to bounce back, putting up incredible numbers in the very next game to shun his haters. He showed glimpses of all the skills that propelled him to be considered a generational talent. However, Glen Davis does not seem to be pleased with Wembanyama’s performance. In a shocking statement, the former Boston Celtics veteran showed no mercy to Wembanyama for having a lean body. “The length I would have struggled with but the body? Tomato chest” he said.

He further went on to brutally criticize the teen sensation saying “That boy looked like little baby Bambi out there the other night, a little baby giraffe…I don’t think he could handle all this pain”.

The 7’5 teenager has incredible shotmaking skills, paired with spacing abilities like a guard and three-point shooting. He also has ferocious shot-blocking skills. His talents also set off one of the greatest tanking seasons for several teams in order to win the right to draft him. However, the question of his fitness always troubled fans and analysts.

The NBA has had a history of exceptional players’ careers being plagued by injury. In a league where players go through intense physical contact, staying strong enough to compete for several years is a Herculean task. Several players have succumbed to injury due to the intensity of the game. However, Wembanyama seems to have no concern about his fitness.
