The Dallas Mavericks have found new life this year after an abysmal ending to the 2022-23 season. They are currently 4th in the Western Conference standings with a winning record of 9-5. A major reason for their early season success has been the performance of their new superstar, Kyrie Irving. Uncle Drew joined Dallas earlier this year during the middle of last season, but could not lead his new team to the playoffs. However, he has settled into his new role way better this season and has been performing at an elite level.

Before moving to Dallas, Kyrie had garnered an image that led to him being perceived as a bad employee and a tough person to work with. However, Mavs owner Mark Cuban revealed Kyrie?s true nature, which shocked everyone.

Mark Cuban was a guest on the All The Smoke Podcast hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Cuban addressed what it is like working and dealing with Kyrie Irving in Dallas. The Mavs owner had high praise and admiration for the former NBA Champion and revealed that Kyrie loves having deep conversations with people. ?He is easy because his heart?s always in the right place.? Cuban said. While most players swap jerseys after the game to show respect, Kyrie has a different way of displaying his connection with teammates. ?Kai comes up. It?s not about the jersey swap. He gives you a grandma hug,? Cuban added.

That description is completely the opposite of the public image Kyrie has garnered over the years. Since Kyrie departed from Cleveland, he has struggled to find a permanent home. He struggled to build chemistry with his team, which led to a lot of drama in Boston and Brooklyn. Kyrie?s stance on some topics can be controversial, but Cuban believes there is always a sense of mutual respect and honesty with him.

Uncle Drew could redeem his career in Dallas

Kyrie signed a 3-year $120 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks this summer. He is averaging 23.9 points and 6.1 assists this season, leading his team to multiple victories. Kyrie has been the perfect co-star to Luka Doncic despite the NBA world predicting their failure as a duo.

Uncle Drew was considered one of the best point guards in the league when he was in Cleveland. But his reputation has taken a hit over the years due to his off-court antics.
