The Golden State Warriors were in high spirits on Monday as their star Draymond Green finally joined the lineup after a 12-game suspension. However, the Grizzlies rained on their parade by serving them a 116-107 loss. One of the biggest forces behind the Grizzlies’ victory was their rookie, GG Jackson. He dropped 23 points and contributed six rebounds and one assist. Interestingly, the driving force behind this young forward’s incredible performance dates back to an incident a few years ago.

GG was invited to one of Stephen Curry‘s training camps, but that was withdrawn shortly after. It seems like the forward has not forgotten it as he walked up to Steph and said something about the incident. And according to rapper Cam’ron, this was a big mistake.

GG Jackson should’ve taken a different approach with Steph

In an episode of the Come and Talk 2 Me podcast, Cam’ron warns GG by bringing up the time when Dillon Brooks had tried trash-talking LeBron during his stint with the Grizzlies. “He tried to say some slick sh*t to LeBron James and you know what LeBron James did to him the next time they played? Killed them and sent them home,” the rapper says. Cam’ron adds that Brooks was then sent to Houston. A similar incident could happen to the youngster if he is not careful.

So what was it that GG said to Steph that prompted Cam’ron to warn him? Well, during Monday’s game, the 19-year-old forward went up to Steph in halftime and said something to the effect of ‘you cut me from your camp.’ Cam’ron further says that the correct way to have approached Steph for GG should’ve been, “Yo Steph, what’s good? I came to your camp and I didn’t make it. It’s a pleasure to even be on the same court as you.” Cam’ron warns GG that if he keeps up this behavior, they will trade him to the worst team in the NBA.

The highlight of the night for GG

Despite how things turned out, it was a great night for the Grizzlies’ rookie and the icing on the cake was his post-game interview Shaquille O’Neal. After the game, Shaq spoke with GG on behalf of Inside the NBA, and it was clear from the ear-to-ear grin on his face that the rookie was over the moon.

Shaq conveyed his congratulations to him, and said, “If people didn’t know who you were, they know who you are now. I’m so proud of you.” This was enough to pump up the young star who couldn’t contain his joy.
