Trae Young and Luka Doncic are both gifted players from the same draft class. However, the narrative towards both players has been poles apart over the years. No doubt that both Young and Doncic are All-Stars as well as the cornerstones of their respective franchises. Yet young, at times get perceived as the villain whereas Doncic has a whole different perspective.

Trae Young talked about taking on the villainous role while talking to Draymond Green once too. And he mentioned how he embraced it. But this former NBA star draws a parallel comparison to what would?ve happened if Doncic did the same thing to the Knicks as Young did.

Trae Young is a gifted point guard. A great ball handler along with his long-range jumpers always manages to keep fans on the edge of their seats. However, the playoff series against the New York Knicks is when Young was blasted by fans of the New York Franchise.

Young single-handedly managed to take down the New York Knicks back in the 2020-21 NBA playoffs. The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Knicks in five games behind Trae Young?s heroics. However, the whole media narrative came out to be quite different.

Recently, on Trae Young?s From The Point podcast, former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas gave his take on the whole media narrative. He went on to say, ?You know what?s crazy about that New York series man??

?If it was any other player, if Luka did that to the New York Knicks, they would be a God. This is the craziest sh*t. It is crazy how you went into the Garden and really f***ed them up.?

Gilbert Arenas emphasized how if it were any other player who did that to the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden, things would?ve been labeled differently. He went on to talk about the New York media.

Arenas said, ?You know most of the media is New York. It seems like they personally took offense to what you did in The Garden.? He also added, ?It was like they just said, ?I don?t like this. He just made us look bad.??

Whether Arenas was right or not, he did have a point. During the series, Madison Square Garden chanted ?F**k Trae Young? whenever he was on the court. And against all odds, Young still managed to take care of business and end the series early.
