Most recently, the

Golden State Warriors point guard opened up about what lies in the future for his kids. And Riley Curry might just be following in her grandma’s and aunt Sydel’s footsteps.

Stephen Curry talks about his kids’ future

Stephen Curry recently appeared in a recent interview with Live Kelly and Mark. He talked candidly about his children’s future and the possibility that they might play basketball like him. Given that they were exposed to basketball from an early age, it is a common expectation that his children will take a significant interest in the sport.

To the surprise of many, it turns out that Riley Curry, Curry’s oldest daughter, has chosen a different route. Riley has chosen volleyball as her sport of choice, despite growing up in the basketball community and having numerous opportunities to watch her father play. However, being the supportive dad he is, he is all up for it!

However, what about his daughter Ryan (8) and son Canon (5)?

Stephen Curry said,

“I have two girls, 11 and 8, and a younger son who’s five. My oldest is a volleyball player, she’s taken after grandma and some of the women in my life who play volleyball. Middle daughter, the dancer. She’s kind of the artist of the family so I’m over two on that one already. And the five-year-old, we’ll see what he wants to be. He’s kind of the athlete but I don’t know if basketball…golf…baseball, whatever it is.”

He continued,

“But the biggest thing is whatever they decide to do, like this is full support…understanding for them.”Read More: As Stephen Curry?s Sister Shows Off Pregnancy Belly at Drake Concert, Sister-in-Law Ayesha Left Jaw-Dropped at Bold Gesture

Well, the kids have no pressure of following in their fathers’ footsteps. However, as his eldest daughter Riley Curry has shown an interest in volleyball, will we get to see her following in her aunt Sydel’s footsteps?

Stephen Curry’s sister chose volleyball

The talented younger sister of NBA players Stephen Curry and Seth Curry, Sydel Curry-Lee, established herself in the volleyball scene. She chose a different path than her basketball-playing siblings. Sydney fell in love with volleyball while attending Charlotte Christian School. She continued to excel in the sport by joining the Elon University college volleyball team, where she displayed her skills as a setter.

Her perseverance and commitment on the court did not go unappreciated as she received the prestigious NCCSIA First Team All-State distinction. Furthermore, she was also the recipient of the team’s MVP title in 2016. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for her athletic career. Sydel announced her tragic decision to quit volleyball in February 2017. She was forced to leave the sport she adored after suffering a major injury. She admitted she had a hard time making the choice because sports had always been a big part of who she was.
