Floored by Warriors Bigs, Stephen Curry Reminisces 6’11 Ex-Teammate-Turned-Reporter After Thrashing Blazers

The Golden State Warriors were easily able to fend off the rebuilding Portland Trail Blazers. The team won by a 20-point margin led by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson’s explosive performances. But Curry started reminiscing about some of the good old days while talking to the media post-game.

Stephen Curry has always had talented players around him. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are perfect examples. But the same cannot be said for big men in the recent past, leading Curry to give flowers to former Warriors center.

The Golden State Warriors had no problems taking care of business against the Portland Trail Blazers, defeating them with a final score of 106-126. The Warriors seem to finally have some momentum under them, winning five straight games in a row.

After the game, Stephen Curry sat down for a post-game press conference. That is when one of the reporters asked him how he felt about playing with big men who were proficient enough to catch and shoot, throw down lobs, and more.

That is when Curry said, “I’m sitting here reminiscing about number 31 I used to play with back in the day.” Here, Curry was talking about his former teammate turned-reporter, Festus Ezeli.

Festus Ezeli played three seasons with the Golden State Warriors and won his first and only championship alongside Stephen Curry in 2015. Being 6’11, Ezeli was a tad bigger than Kevon Looney and more agile off his feet too.

Curry talks about the current bigs on the team

Stephen Curry’s post-game press conference was not just about him reminiscing about Festus Ezeli. He then went on to talk about the current big men that the Golden State Warriors possess on their roster.

Curry went on to add, “It’s great, though. Because, like I said, Loon (Looney) gives us a certain look at that position. Trayce is obviously learning from him, where to be and understanding, especially on defense. How to be one step ahead. But on offense, it’s a change of pace.” 

“It just seems like he’s understanding the angles on screens and the timing of those rolls. Whether it’s a lob or whether it’s a drop-down pass, or him getting to the basket. It applies a lot of pressure to the defenses, especially with the shooting that we have around and the way the ball moves. So, that’s why he’s making such a big impact on the last four games.”
