Victor Wembanyama entered the NBA as one of the brightest prospects in the league. With a 7’4″ frame, he is one of the tallest players in the league. With his tall body and quick feet, he can easily be one of the most formidable defensive players. However, no matter how big or talented a player is, a lean frame always draws skepticism. In the midst of this, a fellow French athlete who faced similar issues comes in with his advice to save the day. Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is now 54 lbs heavier, has some words of wisdom to offer to the new draft.
Giannis Antetokounmpo shares a few words of wisdom
Only someone who has been through the grueling process can help someone who is about to embark on the same journey. In the podcast 48 Minutes, Giannis shares some insightful tips for the rookie player. He shared his own journey of beefing up, putting on 5-7 pounds steadily each year. The 7-time NBA All-Star paid attention to his diet and cut out sugar as much as possible.

He added, “He doesn’t have to put weight immediately because it might affect how he moves, his flexibility, but the sky is the limit. If he takes his time and hopefully, knock on wood, he can stay off injuries. Man, the sky is the limit for that guy. I hope he can lead San Antonio, which is a great organization, a winning franchise, to more championships.”
Wembanyama checks the boxes in all other squares except his lean and slight frame. However, he needs to be careful because adding too much weight at once can also compromise other facets of his game. Just a few pounds to endure the rigors of the NBA game would be ideal for the French phenom.

The Greek Freak has undergone a massive transformation in the last few years since his debut. He stood at 6?9? with just 190 pounds when he was first drafted in 2013. However, his strong work ethic, rigorous training, and an evident growth spurt turned him into one of the greatest power forwards.
Back in 2013, when the Milwaukee Bucks drafted him as the 15th overall pick, he was just a lanky kid. He recognized the demands of the NBA and set on a journey to add muscle mass. In just a few years, he miraculously grew and now stands 7 feet tall and has gained 54 pounds since then. This not only changed his physical attributes but completely transformed his gameplay, making him one of the hardest players to guard against.
