It was the first quarter of the Semi-Final game between the USA and Germany. With around one minute and 20 seconds to go, Tyrese Haliburton made a lovely pass to Austin Reaves. The Guard lined himself up and then nailed a beautiful long-range shot to tie the game at 29 apiece.

Then he brought out the “threes to the head” celebration, which is an iconic celebration by Carmelo Anthony. As he brought out the celebration, the Forward was there in attendance to watch the incredible shooter at work. As Melo watched the celebration, he appeared immersed in the game and gave just a slight smile as the camera panned on him.

It was as if the former premier Wing was worried about the USA’s prospects for the game as the Germans’ offense was running over them. His worries were justified because, at the time of writing, the Germany squad was up ten points with around eight minutes and change to go in the game.

The Frontline of Andreas Obst, Franz Wagner, and Daniel Theis had all crossed the 18-points mark. They were looking in fine touch as the USA kept missing a strong frontline. The lack of depth at the frontline also hurt them against Lithuania big time.

Reaves and Melo connection

Austin Reaves and Carmelo Anthony were teammates for a season. Although the Wing clicked it from long-range, it was a forgettable season for the Lakers fandom. Austin “Captain America” Reaves had a strong rookie season. He became one of the rare undrafted rookies to average around 7 points and around three rebounds. Last season, he averaged 13 points a game, but it was the Playoffs where he turned it on.He had an average of almost 17 points on 44.3% shooting from deep.
