When the NBA world was in a snooze fest ahead of the All-Star break, an update involving LeBron James shook up the hoops community. An ESPN report stated that the Golden State Warriors were engaged in a failed attempt to pair up James with Stephen Curry ahead of the trade deadline. At the same time, the update went down the drain because of the failed nature of the attempt. However, days after the report, a few important details of the attempt saw the light of the day.

Romona Shelburne, an ESPN writer, who worked alongside Adrian Wojnarowski, in bringing out the cracking update, opened up. Shelburne joined the latest podcast episode of The Lowe Post and rained down the unknown facts about the Warriors attempt.

The Dubs had a shaky stretch before their current 8-2 run and there were multiple trade reports suggesting potential trade options. Certain reports even stated that the Warriors were looking to trade Andrew Wiggins following his slump. But no one ever expected the Bay Area team to root for King James. Describing the Dubs, Shelburne said, A lot of other things were happening in the foreground and then there is a super secret titanic thing that is happening in the background that only a few people know about.”

Moreover, she went on to narrate the events in chronological order and there by she also dropped a few eye-opening details of the attempt. The 44-year-old writer described it as aMulti tiered effort from the Warriors” because it wasn’t just general managers who were involved in the conversation. Shelburne also stressed that it all began when James put out the Hourglass emoji on his X handle.

The Multi tiered effort to trade LeBron James 

Shelburne revealed that everything regarding the attempt happened in a 24-hours span. Firstly, the Dubs Governor Joe Lacob called up Jeanie Buss after the hourglass emoji. Buss immediately directed the Dubs to reach out to LeBron James‘ agent, Rich Paul, which clearly stated that the superstar had the power to determine his team.

Following that, Dubs’ forward Draymond Green got involved in the conversation to convince Paul to agree to the trade. Notably, Paul serves as an agent for Green as well. And the bottom line is James decided to stick with the Lakers and turned down the offer.

Moreover, the ESPN writer also stated the Lakers’ mindset when it comes to trading the Akron Hammer. She said, Even though they (Lakers) had no interest in trading LeBron, the question is ‘if you wanna know LeBron is interested, you gotta ask LeBron’s agent.” Nevertheless, it sure rattled the NBA world for a brief period.
