Golden State Warriors faced the Washington Wizards in the Chase Center and the former player of the Warriors, Jordan Poole, sat in the opposite camp. It was an emotional moment for him after things turned ugly with Draymond Green. Green punched Poole in the face during a practice session while Poole tried to shove him away. Warriors decided to take action against the one who leaked the video.
Though Green was fined for the incident many believe that the incident proved to be the beginning of the end of the Warriors’ dominance. It went from being the Champion team to a team that can’t win on the road. But the audience at the Chase Center was sensitive enough to show respect to Poole known for his audacious nature.

Many people were critical of Poole during his initial basketball years. But he significantly improved his game. His scoring abilities got as sharp as his playmaking skills. Many people compared him with the veteran Stephen Curry calling him the “third Splash brother”.
The incident with Green occurred on October 5, 2022. The Warriors didn’t suspend Green, but tried to play it both ways. Poole got a 4-year contract extension worth $123 million. He stayed in the team with some decent performances. In July 2023, the Warriors traded him to the Wizards along with two others to get Chris Paul.
A stitch in time didn’t save nine
Stephen Curry has admitted that the Warriors could have handled the situation better. Many analysts also point out the same flaw: that a timely punishment was not handed over to Green.Draymond Green had a series of such incidents. He held Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves in a chokehold and was handed over a five-game suspension. Later, he swung his arm and punched Jusuf Nurkic in the face. After being suspended indefinitely, the Warriors stepped aside as the head Coach Steve Kerr said that Draymond needed to make a change.
