The Miami Heat made major roster changes before the trade deadline by shipping off Kyle Lowry and a future first-round draft pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Terry Rozier. However, the recently traded Lowry is unlikely to play any game for Charlotte before the NBA trade deadline on February 8. This is because it is anticipated that the Hornets will try to buy out Lowry before the deadline in an attempt to acquire additional future assets.
A likely candidate to accommodate the veteran guard is the LA Lakers, who are in need of a PG capable of running the offense. But ex-NBA star and former Celtics Assistant Coach Evan Turner thinks that Lowry should not settle for the Lakers. He gives Lowry something to think about in his recent X post.
Kyle Lowry should respect himself and decline any Lakers’ offer

Turner’s bold message for Lowry is plain and simple. Taking to X, he asserts that if Lowry goes to the Lakers, it would be like shooting himself in the foot. The former coach posted, “Kyle, Do not go to the Lakers, they are trying to make you the fall guy. Think about your legacy.” If the Hornets decide to buy Lowry out, the Lakers are anticipated to show interest in him as a backup point guard. Seeing the possibility, Turner doesn’t want to see the 37-year-old guard reduced to a backup position as it could hurt his legacy.

Instead, Turner wants the former NBA Champion to join a team that will at least provide him with a starting position. Should the Bulldog be bought out, he will become a free agent with a $29.6 expiring contract and he wouldn’t want to play as a benchwarmer or a reserve. So, Turner believes that he should probably weigh out his options before jumping the gun. Fortunately for Lowry, apart from the Lakers, there are other interested teams on the market for him.
The Sixers could be a practical possibility for Lowry

According to Senior NBA Reporter Jake Fischer, Philly could potentially be Kyle Lowry’s destination thanks to their financial flexibility. He believes that the Sixers are “capable of signing a player who was bought out from a contract pricier than this year’s mid-level exception ($12.4 million.).” Of course, this will all depend on whether Lowry can be bought out by the Hornets.
Under the circumstances that he is in, it would be preferable if North Philly’s Finest opts for the Sixers and ends his career in his hometown under the guidance of the Coach with whom he won a championship in 2019. With a declining performance, Nick Nurse is the only one who can possibly extract anything from Lowry at this point.
