Magic Johnson’s exuberance is not without merit. He praised Pelinka’s initiatives throughout the midseason overhaul as well as the current summer. Pelinka oversaw a slew of acquisitions and contracts that boosted the Lakers’ squad, providing depth and variety. The Lakers signed new contracts with Austin Reaves, Jarrett Vanderbilt, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell, maintaining consistency in the team’s nucleus. Furthermore, free-agent additions like as Gabe Vincent, Christian Wood, Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince, and Cam Reddish have increased the roster’s depth and variety.

Magic Johnson stated that the squad is capable of adapting to and succeeding in a variety of playing styles. He said, “I like the variety because we can have so many different lineups in there. That’s how you win. That’s how you win the championship. You got to have versatility in your lineup and we have it. Now, even if LeBron is out, we can win. If Anthony Davis is out, we can win. If somebody gets injured, we can win.”

Johnson said, “Okay, so, if he got more than five championships, if he got more than three Finals MVPs and three league MVPs, then he’s the greatest.” But he wasn’t done. He exclaimed, “If he got more than No. 1 in assists all-time in the Finals, No. 2 in double-doubles, No. 1 in triple-doubles all-time in the NBA playoffs, No. 4 in steals all-time in the playoffs. If he got more than those numbers, then he’s the best.”
