The Boston Celtics shocked their fans in this offseason when they traded out star point guard Marcus Smart. The Celtics cracked a three team deal with Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards and received Kristaps Porzingis. Moreover, a veteran NBA Insider explored Jayson Tatum & Co’s newest teammate’s possibilities in the roster.

In the upcoming season, fans have three 7 foot ballers to look out for. One of them is Victor Wembanyama, of course. The 7′ 4 French baller took the NBA world to a spin ahead of 2023 draft. Apart from him, the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s 7’ 1 Chet Holmgren, who missed his rookie season because of an injury, produced a promising effort in the Summer league. Kristaps Porzingis had his breakout year last season as he averaged 23.2 points with an impressive field goal percentage of 49.8. The 28-year-old star brings in both height and shooting skills on the hardwood, which would be an added advantage for the Celtics. Moreover, the team lacked height in their roster. Apart from 6′ 8 Jayson Tatum, the team didn’t have a notable tall baller.

Digging more into the Celtics’ new addition, veteran NBA insider Zack Lowe. In the latest episode of The Lowe Post with Zack Lowe, he addressed Porzingis’ possibilities on the roster. He said, “Skilled size has always been the end game of roster building. It’s not small ball, it’s skill ball.” He further placed 7′ 3 star in the starting lineup alongside Jaylen Brown and Tatum.

Furthermore, he expressed his negatives of involving the baller. He said, “It makes me a little bit nervous… reinvention and relying on a guy who doesn’t have experience in big games.” Despite putting him in the starting lineup, Lowe was skeptical about his role in the franchise.

Smart on the Grizzlies roster

Several reports suggested that Smart wasn’t aware of the trade until his agent called him up. However, everything seemed to be going well for the point guard. Despite Ja Morant’s initial 25-game suspension, the team looks to be in a comfortable place. Former MVP Derrick Rose signed a two-year contract with the team.
