Joel Embiid Risks $35,000 Again While Celebrating 41-Point Masterclass Over Nikola Jokic

Joel Embiid risked it all again with his controversial celebration. During the hard fought battle against the Denver Nuggets in the Tuesday night clash, the Philadelphia 76ers spearhead put up a masterclass show. He dropped 41 points against the towering Nikola Jokić and his men to take home a 126-121 win. However, during one of the buckets, he risked it all for a celebration.

The Nuggets and Sixers have had similar run this season, staying afloat in the top-3 seed in their respective conference. And, both teams are spearheaded by skillful giants, who dominate the paint. But, the only difference is Embiid is more expressive than Jokic, when it comes to celebration. Tonight, the Sixers got the better of the Nuggets, and Embiid didn’t hold back with his forbidden celebration.

Embiid does the forbidden celebration again

Over the years, the league has laid down various restrictions on players. Starting from restricting the players to wear only white sneakers to restricting the players from showing obscene gestures on the court. Just like Michael Jordan went ahead with his red-dominant signature Air Jordan, Joel Embiid also repeated his forbidden celebration.

While Jordan had to pay $5000 for every game he wore Air Jordan, the league could throw a curve ball at the Sixers spearhead for repeating the gesture.

Two months ago, the league slapped a $35,000 fine on Embiid during his game against the Portland Trail Blazers for repeatedly making an obscene gesture. Notably, the obscene gesture is an emulation of WWE wrestler Triple H’s famous signature entry. Despite the fine, the Cameroonian star repeated it again on Tuesday night.

While the league may have found it as a breach, but the gesture sent the crowd into a frenzy. But, this time Embiid could face more than just a fine.

Embiid spearheads a tough win for the Sixers

Ever since James Harden made his way out of the Sixers roster, the responsibilities were rested on the shoulders of Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The 23-year-old, who has been churning in MVP numbers, took up the supporting role for tonight game.

Maxey dropped 25 points with nine assists, along with Tobias Harris’ 24 points. On the other hand, the Nuggets put a collective effort, everyone in the starting line-up scored in double digits. But, it wasn’t enough to contain the Sixers.

The Nuggets take on the Sixers again on 27th January in their home and Jokic and his men would look to repay the men from the City of Brotherly love.
