In recent years, the NBA teams have started to hand out ridiculous contracts to their star players. One such example was when the Boston Celtics signed Jaylen Brown on a five-year $304 million this year. One former NBA Champion has now openly criticized this decision from the Celtics.
Alongside Brown, his teammate Jayson Tatum also faced harsh remarks from the NBA legend. The comments have provided a better picture regarding the decision-making of the franchises in recent times.

The Celtics stars have previously failed to rise up to the occasion, especially in the playoffs. Ricky Barry promptly addressed that in a podcast with Joy De?Angela using Brown’s postseason form as an example.
“His average in the playoffs for them is 18.5 points a game,”?he said, emphasizing that Celtics should have been more considerate while proposing him the contract offer. This was a source of frustration for Barry as Brown would make $69 million in the last year of his contract.

He then highlighted the flaws of the Celtics’ gameplay that cost them previously on numerous times. “He turns the ball over too much, he tries to force things, so is his teammate Tatum,” the Golden State Warriors legend said. He highlighted it as the reason behind the Celtics losing to the Warriors in the 2021/22 season NBA final.
He talked in length about how the NBA stars can improve, mostly focusing on going with the flow. “Keep it simple and stupid,” he mentioned when talking about how to play the game of basketball. In an attempt to explain how to reduce the number of turnovers, he mentioned, “Take what the defense gives you”.
These words hold great value coming from a player who has been there and done that. As the Celtics have decided to rely on Brown and Tatum to lead them to the championship, these pointers serve as necessary feedback. But one question still remains.
