Draymond Green exposes the mentality of fans

Draymond Green has made a strong case for a Hall of Fame induction over the course of his career. The 4-time All-Star boasts of a Defensive Player of the Year award, 8 All Defensive selections and most importantly, 4 championships. However, his antics on the court have always taken center stage. In a recent interview, Green admitted to fully embracing the villain role. However, the 33-year-old also mentioned how hostile the league is.

Green graced The Pat Bev Podcast, run by his fellow NBA player, Patrick Beverley. On the show, he discussed how he approaches his game. “When you play the game the way we play, when you getting at guys the way we get at guys, you’re keeping count of all of those things literally,” he said.

He further added, “You’re looking for any edge that you can possibly get, I just need to find one c**p, and if I find one c**p, Imma blow this whole s**t up.” Talking about his mindset, Green said, “It’s like yo, I just need to find one thing. And if I can find multiple things, oh my god, we’re going to have a fun night tonight.”

He also drew comparisons between himself and the Chicago Bulls guard, Beverley on the show: “The one thing that we both have in common is…it comes down to one thing and that’s just trying to help the team win…that all comes from the same place, a place of just winning and I got that respect for you, Pat Bev.”

Green spoke about his mentality and the hostility of the game, but he also shared some interesting insights about winning an NBA championship. In the same segment, he also shared what it takes to win a championship.

The 4-time champion shares what it takes

Draymond Green and the Warriors have experienced immense success during his time on their roster. Winning 4 championships with the Stephen Curry-led franchise and building a strong dynasty over the years does not come easily. Hence, it was important for Green to clarify what it takes to get there.

In the same segment on the show, Green opened up about the other factors that play a role in winning a ring. Talking about Patrick Beverley, Green said, “Guys will look at it like oh, no that guy’s not a winner because you haven’t won a championship and that’s not true.”

Stephen Curry’s teammate also described what it takes to win a ring, also taking an example of the Warriors’ new acquisition, Chris Paul. “Chris Paul, you start saying who’s not a winner but when you look at a guy, it takes a lot to win a championship…nobody ever talk about the luck side of it…you gotta be a little lucky,” he said.

He also showed some respect for Beverley, saying, “People always try to combine those two things as oh man you didn’t win a championship but you ain’t a winner and that’s not true…there’s winners and Pat Bev is one of those guys, I got a lot of respect.”

Green knows what it takes to be a champion in the NBA. He also mentioned how not winning a championship does not make players a ‘loser’.
