Draymond Green is a player who wears his emotions on his sleeves. Over the course of his illustrious career, Draymond has butted heads with opponents, coaches, and even his teammates on numerous occasions. He is a player who is infamous for having a short fuse, openly expressing whatever thoughts are on his mind. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Green recently trashed Dwayne Wade for betraying the Team USA “brotherhood”.

In April 2021, Miami Heat icon Dwayne Wade acquired a minority ownership stake in the Utah Jazz. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics took place in 2021. Just before the start of the Tokyo Olympics, Wade gave his best wishes to then-Jazz center Rudy Gobert, who plays for France. This didn’t sit well with Draymond Green, who refrained from publicly criticizing Wade out of respect. Instead, Green addressed the matter directly with Wade in a private confrontation.

However, in the latest episode of the Draymond Green Show, Green publicly called out Dwayne Wade for supporting Rudy Gobert and France before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He said, “To see Dwayne Wade, who is a part of our USA Basketball brotherhood. It hurt when D-Wade had just become an owner, he put good luck to Rudy Gobert in the Olympics. I get it you just became a Jazz owner, but you can kind of say nothing because you’re kind of one of us. You are one of us.”

The passion Draymond has for his country and for Team USA is clearly visible. However, Green has missed out on the chance to represent Team USA in his third successive Olympics, as he failed to make the cut in the recently released 41-man shortlist.

Draymond omitted from the 41-man shortlist of Team USA

Team USA is more motivated than ever to assert their dominance over world basketball, following their dismal showing in the FIBA World Cup in which they finished fourth. Recently, USA Basketball Men’s National Team managing director Grant Hill announced the 41-man shortlist, which consisted of the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum and many more NBA superstars.

However, a notable name missing from the list is Draymond Green. Green was a part of the previous two Team USA roster that clinched gold in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics. Grant Hill claimed that Green’s lengthy suspension was the reason behind his absence from the list. However, the list is subject to change and Green can still make it to the 2024 Paris Olympics if he plays well for the Warriors in the remaining part of the season. Does Draymond deserve a spot on the roster? Let us know in the comments below!
