However, many misconstrue his retorts as him being ‘sensitive’. Recently, his former teammate, Draymond Green came to his defense while appearing on Patrick Beverley’s podcast.

The four-time champion spoke about fans not being ‘experts’ in the realm of basketball. In addition, he also feels Durant’s method of publicly getting into it with fans isn’t wrong, but rather justified.

He spoke in favor of Green, explaining how the perceptible results wouldn’t be possible without the Golden State Warriors forward’s contributions. From his commanding leadership to the disruptions he causes in an offense, Draymond Green’s impact is incomparable and vital to the success of the Stephen Curry-led franchise. According to Beverley, only a ‘hooper’ can see these invaluable intangibles.

Beverley’s words of support prompted a thought in Draymond Green. Particularly, he picked up the ‘sensitive’ remarks surrounding Kevin Durant. While Green doesn’t indulge in fan discussions, he feels Durant won’t walk away if the notion upheld in the discussion is wrong.

“Everybody like, ‘Oh man, Kevin Durant sensitive as hell, why he talking to that person?’. I don’t talk that much on Twitter but if that’s what he like to do, he likes to tweet and he tweets about basketball and y’all are dead a** wrong, he is going to say something back to you,” Green said.

He also urged fans to understand how they aren’t qualified enough to debate the game the likes of Durant and himself have mastered.

“People are so quick o talk basketball. They don’t understand this game the way we understand this game. You know it’s like no one walks into Google like ‘Yo, I understand your algorithm’. Nobody do that because they at the top of their level and people know they don’t know that s**t. But yet when people watch basketball it’s like ‘Wait, I can talk to these guys about this because I watch’. Like no, we are the masters of this thing,”.

Obviously, as mere fans of the game, our retrospective is limited to what is visible. However, as professionals, the game is completely different for Green and Kevin Durant. They have spent countless hours tirelessly pushing themselves to be the best basketball players they are capable of.

Arguing about the sport they have dedicated their existence to could sometimes trigger a response. For the Slim Reaper, he finds the interactions entertaining.
