This season, Draymond Green has been making headlines for the wrong reasons. The defensive anchor for the Golden State Warriors garnered multiple suspensions, prominently an indefinite suspension following a face punch on Jusuf Nurkic. Surprisingly, Nurkic chose not to retaliate, both on and off the court, only stating that Green might need assistance.

As Green gears up for his return after missing 12 games, there have been new developments to the altercation. Rumors have circulated that Nurkic was contemplating pressing assault charges against Green. With that, Shaquille O’Neal jumped in to bash Nurkic, calling him “soft” in the process.

Amid the escalating drama, Nurkic took to X, reposting Shaq’s clip and clarifying that he never entertained the idea of pressing charges against Green. Moreover, his tweet radiates a desire for peace, extending beyond the Green incident. ” Lmao first i never said that!! People be making sh*t up lol… Shaqilović I’m not from here , I’m not losing money and nobody fighting in this NBA,” Nurkic wrote.

Embracing the rumor, O’Neal dished advice to Nurkic. The Hall of Famer encouraged the Suns’ 7-foot bigman to confront such incidents on the court itself. Even though the league will not endorse it, O’Neal suggested that Jusuf should fight back in such situations.

Although O’Neal isn’t explicitly promoting physical violence, his response and advice to Nurkic suggested a desire for Jusuf to assert himself. Hopefully, taking a stand for himself could potentially ward off such future provocations.

Shaq has had his own head-locking incident in the NBA

While fans now cherish Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley’s on-screen chemistry, their camaraderie wasn’t always pleasant. In their playing days, the two towering figures clashed in a rather violent incident.

The year was 1999, O’Neal donned the purple and gold, while Barkley held it down for the Houston Rockets. During a matchup, Barkley was fouled near the basket. During the whistle, O’Neal, seizing the opportunity, attempted a swat. It is common practice in the league as players try to avoid the possibility of and-1s by this tactic. Moreover, during a dead ball, players do it to assert presence and dominance on the court. However, the situation escalated as Shaq pushed Barkley afterward.
