Drake’s 6-year-old son Adonis made his rapping debut last October. The 5-time Grammy Winning rapper released his son’s first music video a few days after his 6th birthday. Adonis’ debut song titled “My Man Freestyle” garnered over 4 million views on YouTube. Many speculated that Adonis would follow in his father’s footsteps after getting into the music industry at such a young age.

However, Drake disregarded his son’s rapping debut to urge a career in the NBA 12 years in the future. Drake shared a wholesome post on Instagram with several pictures of Adonis playing basketball. The rapper captioned the post, “Leaving these here until the 2036 draft”; creating a new career aspiration for his 6-year-old son. Drake is a die-hard NBA fan and one of the biggest supporters of the Toronto Raptors. So, he wants his son to chase the NBA dream and hopefully play for his home team one day.

If we go by Drake’s timeline, Adonis will be 18 years old during the 2036 NBA draft. Adonis might have to grow up to be a basketball prodigy to fulfill his father’s dream. Very few players in history have been able to make it to the NBA at 18 years old. Some notable names include legends like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.

However, Drake’s son might be an anomaly as not many 6-year-olds have a released single with millions of views. Going by the pictures Drake shared, Adonis seems very happy with a basketball in his hands. Being a multi-millionaire and one of the biggest artists in the world, Drake has all the resources to give his son the best coaching and tools to become an NBA player in the future. Drake even had an NBA player feature in his son’s debut music video.

Adonis’ rapping debut was star-studded

Drake has the power to make his son’s dreams come true. That was evident in Adonis’ star-studded rapping debut. Not only did the video feature Drake, it also featured Toronto Raptors rookie Gradey Dick. Gradey got drafted 13th overall by the Raptors in the 2023 NBA draft. His featuring in Adonis’ debut video shocked everyone as the rookie got trolled by Drake for his name a few months before the release.

In the video, Gradey could be seen grooving to Adonis’ rap lyrics, sitting with the father-son duo at the table. Adonis has Drake’s musical genes, and now he also has the responsibility of living up to his father’s NBA dream. Therefore, we might see the 6-year-old pursuing multiple careers in both fields like many NBA players do today.
