“Don’t Know How You Handle That”: After Joining Forces With Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard Sends Warning to the Rest of the NBA

The Milwaukee Bucks came out of nowhere to swoop Damian Lillard from the grasp of the Heat and the Raptors. It would be fascinating to see two of the best scorers of last season play in tandem. The Bucks have put down a marker with the marquee acquisition of Dame. And other competitors need to follow suit, otherwise, they will be left in the dust. The Bucks have become the odds-on favorite for the title with a frightening core of Giannis, Dame, Middleton, and Brook Lopez.

On the NBA Media Day, Dame sent a warning to his competitors. The NBA is not ready for this iteration of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Dame sends a warning to rest of the NBA

On NBA Media Day, the press summoned Damian Lillard for his media duties for his new team, The Milwaukee Bucks. During the press conference, Dame hinted at the potential for a lethal pick-and-roll partnership that can be developed with Giannis. He said, “Obviously I am a pick-and-roll player. I’ve played a lot of pick and roll in my career and when I think about playing with him (Giannis), I just try to figure it out. How do you defend it?”

He added further, “I can’t imagine them wanting him to have the ball at the free throw line, coming downhill with an advantage”.

After constant pressure by Giannis to build a title-contending team, the Bucks’ front office pulled a rabbit out of the hat to sign Dame. The Bucks would be a formidable opposition, with the dominating presence of Giannis and the impeccable shooting of Dame. Talented players like Brook Lopez, Khris Middleton, and Bobby Portis surrounded the two stars. With the Bucks, Dame has finally got an opportunity to lift the elusive Larry O’Brien trophy.

Giannis and Dame: A Frightening Duo

The Bucks experienced disappointment last season after being eliminated by the Heat in the first round of the NBA playoffs. But this season, that won’t be the case because of Dame. The Bucks had an offensive rating of 114.2, the sixth-highest in the league. And then you add Dame to the mix, who had the third most points per game with 32.2 points. The potential would be frightening.

Pick and Roll between Dame and Giannis would be the least of the problems opposing defenses would face. Dame’s three-point shooting prowess would open multiple driving lanes for Giannis. And if the opposing defenses opt to clog the paint, Dame would make them pay. The league hasn’t seen two superstars that complement each other’s game so perfectly.
