Over the past 20 years in the league, LeBron James has attracted a lot of haters and naysayers. People who tend to diss him, bring him down with harsh words and whatnot. But then there are also players, legends, and even NBA analysts that could not help but praise him and what he’s done to the game during his long tenure. 

One such person is this former player who not only played against LeBron James but also had the chance to play alongside him as well. And the first time he guarded LBJ, this is what he had to say, along with Rajon Rondo‘s out-coaching tactic.

Ex-Piston praises LeBron James

LeBron James has been in the league for so long that he has had the opportunity to play against current NBA players and their fathers as well. And over the course of his 20-year-long NBA career, James has managed to mesmerize many.

One such player is Stanley Johnson. Johnson was the eighth pick in the 2015 draft by the Detroit Pistons. Currently in the G-League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Johnson talked about the first time he faced The King in the playoffs.

Stanley Johnson made an appearance on Tidal League where he shed light on the time James was with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Johnson went on to cite Rajon Rondo who talked about in-game coaching and how to out-coach the opposite teams players. 

Johnson said, “We caught him(LeBron James) by surprise because they let me guard him one-on-one with not that much help. Stanley went on to add, “He didn’t allow bullsh*t. Like, he didn’t do the same thing twice.”

“After the first game there was no like, he went quicker. He didn’t allow, he didn’t make the same mistakes over and over into a higher level.”

Johnson gave props to both James and Irving

The Cleveland Cavaliers met the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs back in the 2015-16 season. And the Cavs, along with James and Kyrie Irving managed to swipe them in the first round.

Johnson went on to talk about how LeBron James elevated his game. Not only did he not make the same mistakes but he also managed to get good clean looks that he obviously made.

Johnson even praised Kyrie Irving in the interview and gave him his flowers for that series. But the way he talked about James just goes to show that even current NBA players are fans of James.
