Tatum further revealed that he thought he got fouled on that play and was having a conversation with the official regarding the same. He claimed that he did not use any curse words while putting his point forth. Tatum also talked about how the referees affect the game with their power to eject a player. “Players, we compete and affect the game. The refs, they have an effect on the game. They threw me out, right or wrong, it’s their word against ours. I can’t get that time back.”

Are the players really at fault for getting ejected?
The NBA is facing a serious problem this season. We have seen several technical fouls and ejections called by the referees. While many of the calls have been due to rule violations by the players, there have been some that have stirred controversies. Earlier this season, Jayson Tatum got called for a technical foul for clapping his hands in frustration. Even in tonight’s game, he got ejected for arguing about a foul call. Although it is uncertain what was said between him and the officials, a player should have the right to question a call without facing such severe consequences.
