“Did James Harden Pack His Bags?”: Joel Embiid’s Celebration After Arsenal vs Manchester City Goes Horribly Wrong Among NBA Fans

The Wembley Stadium was exploding as Arsenal and Manchester City engaged in a thriller. Man City’s Cole Palmer nailed a goal at the 77th-minute mark. Then 11 minutes into the injury time just as the hopes were fading, Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard somehow managed a goal, thanks to a failed clearance. During the penalties, Arsenal kept their nerves and won 4-1 after momentum was on their side. 

As Arsenal wins the FA Community Shield, their superfan Joel Embiid is over the moon. His celebrations lead the way to something else entirely.

For Embiid, love for Arsenal is nothing new. He had been behind the team for a long time before he even joined the NBA. His Twitter is a great archive of his football craze. When looking at his old tweets, one can see his love for the EPL club in 2014.

Whenever he goes to his native country Cameeron, he engages in street football. For a seven-footer, he surely has a lot of tricks in his bag. The 2023 NBA MVP loves soccer. He once expressed his desire to play for one of the following teams. In 2014 itself, the Philadelphia 76ers Center had expressed, “After basketball, I’m signing with either Real Madrid, Arsenal, Lyon, Inter Milan or Bayer Munich….. Just so I can become a pro for a day”.

Since it is the offseason, he can watch the game he loves so much regularly. The Cameroonian Center took to his favorite platform to celebrate the occasion.

Embiid’s favorite squad is Real Madrid but his love for Arsenal is well known. He was right behind his favorite team and even though the Community Shield tourney was far from the EPL title; he didn’t miss out on any achievements of his team.
