Despite Starving 50 Years for an NBA Ring, Knicks Fans Reject Veteran 6x All-Star’s Rumored Arrival

The New York Knicks have been in existence since 1946. The Knicks are one of the original 8 teams in the league and have a rich history. They had winning records consecutively for the first 9 seasons they played in the NBA. However, even though the team is one of the oldest teams in the league, they have managed to win only 2 championship titles and 4 conference titles until now. The last championship the Big Apple won was in 1973, 50 years from today and this season they are currently 5th in the Eastern Conference standings.

So the team is looking strong but needs to go through some squad updates. A Chicago Bulls star who has asked for a trade away from his club has stated the Knicks as his preferred destination. However, the Knicks fans do not approve of the 6x All-Star as a Knick and bluntly reject him.

Demar DeRozan desires to play for the Big Apple

The New York Knicks, who have been the focus of trade speculations in previous seasons, are back in the limelight. However, this time around, it’s not about possible departing players, but about an experienced athlete who wants to wear the blue and orange. DeMar DeRozan, the Bulls forward has expressed his interest in the Knicks and calls it his “preferred destination”.

The athlete is 34 years old but still is a force to be reckoned with on the offensive side. The veteran has averaged 21.3 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 18 games this season. His current team, the Windy City, looks to be on a decline as they have just 6 wins and 14 losses, and lucky for DeRozan that his contract is expiring. With DeRozan scheduled to earn $28.6 million this season, the Bulls must decide whether to maximize his worth in a trade or risk losing him in free agency this summer.

The Knicks are famously renowned for being involved in talks with high-profile players in the past. The exciting atmosphere at Madison Square Garden and the recent revival of the franchise make it a desired destination for the veteran forward. However, the Knicks fans do not desire this veteran forward and do not want him to rock the blue and orange.

Why are the Knicks fans against the D-Roz?

The Knicks fans have been waiting for a title for a very long time now. This year, as the team looks to have found their footing in the league, their fans are more pumped than usual. However, when they heard that the Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan wanted to play for New York, they did not approve of it. One fan gave a very straightforward answer and his opinion about Double D. He said, “There’s no point. He’s 34, unless we give them next to nothing it’s not like we’re winning a championship by adding him.”

Another fan who was a fan of D-Roz said, “We don’t need this like sad to say, I love Derozan always been a fan of his but we don’t need him on the team.” But this fan made a valid point by adding, “He shouldve just came here when we actually wanted him before he signed w the bulls but now since we balling you wanna come?

One fan bluntly just wrote, “Hell nah!”

Another Knicks fan very politely declined DeRozan and said, “Past his prime. No thanks.”
