The 28-year-old Big Man Christian Wood signed a two-year $5.8 million contract with the Lakers this summer. Last season he played for the?Dallas Mavericks who decided not to bring him back, resulting in his free agency. However, his quest for a home stopped in LA where he will play in the upcoming season.

In his Media Day debut for the franchise, he had several pertinent questions. Interestingly, he talked about how Luka’s play has influenced him, after being asked how his experience with Doncic will help him in transition with LeBron James. “In my eyes, Luca is one of the best, you know, pick-and-roll point guards in the league, you know. I got to learn a lot in terms of him getting blitzed … uh, double-teamed, pick and roll, and him and him needing a short-roll guy to kind of create the action for when he gets double-teamed”, said the Big man. He further added, “I got better. I think I was actually one of the best bigs in the pick-and-roll off of doing that. I think it was like me and Dwight Pal or something like that, so I want to say it’s the Luca effect”.

Reportedly, Wood had the option to sign a 4-year, $77 million extension with the Dallas Mavericks. However, the Mavs opted for a different route, trading him to the LA. However, it isn’t that bad for the Big Man as LA is home already.

Wood said, ?This is my hometown team. I?m from Long Beach. I grew up watching this team. I grew up watching Kobe Bryant. This is where I want to be long term.? Although he wishes to stay long term only his performances next season will dictate if he is a long-term fit for the Lakers.
