The Chicago Bulls announcer got hilariously catfished on live TV. During the Saturday night game between the Washington Wizards and Bulls, the announcer fell prey to a fake Derrick Rose retirement post. An X user impersonated ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and shared a post, stating that D-Rose had retired from the NBA after 15 seasons.

While the announcer was quick to mention it in the live TV, he later came to terms with the reality. And his colleagues jokingly made sure he faced the heat. One of the announcers said, “You got tricked. Maybe it was all cap,” in a funny tone.

The Adrian Wojnarowski parody account dropped the post ahead of the Bulls game and created haywire on the internet. Derrick Rose, who is currently playing for the Memphis Grizzlies, has had an underwhelming career ever since his injuries. In his first seven seasons, he played for the Bulls and became the youngest player in the history of the league to win the MVP award.

While everyone expected his career to skyrocket, he faced two unfortunate injuries. He suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, and then a ruptured Achilles tendon, which kept him off the court for two whole seasons. After his return, the star’s game hasn’t been the same, and he has since played for different franchises like the Cavs, Knicks, and Pistons.

In the 2023 offseason, the Grizzlies roped him in as the backup guard for Ja Morant & Co. Nevertheless, this new association also didn’t go in his favor, as the injuries plagued the entire side. Starting from D-Rose, the team had lost many star players this season.

Derrick Rose’s future in the league

The 35-year-old star is undeniably in the last leg of his career. The veteran baller may have a few more seasons left in him. Importantly, he may have found the perfect franchise to end his career on a high, maybe even with a championship ring. Weeding out the injuries and the games lost due to suspension, Ja Morant & Co. looked lethal whenever they played with a healthy roster.

The inclusion of Marcus Smart in the roster filled with power-packed players like Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. would make the Grizzlies a championship-winning team. While the chances for this season are already out with Morant sustaining a season-ending injury, the next season could be the one to watch out for. However, Derrick Rose has only one more season left in the contract, so the Grizzlies have only one season left to help the veteran get his ring as of now.
