A few days ago, Jaylen Brown bagged the biggest NBA deal amid the enduring Damian Lillard trade drama. Some sections of fans and pundits criticized the Boston Celtics for signing such a deal with Brown. On the other hand, Lillard and James Harden, who hinted at a trade out, are yet to find a team. Incidentally, to sum all this up, former NBA player J. J. Redick predicted a much bigger trade contract in the future.
After the 2023 postseason, several reports suggested Dame‘s interest in trading to the Miami Heat and Harden’s intent for the Los Angeles Clippers. However, both players haven’t been able to realize their dreams yet. In response to the wait, Redick also pointed out the important missing links in the stars’ efforts to find a new home.

Jayson Tatum led the points for the Celtics in the last few seasons, and yet he didn’t receive the max contract. Keeping this in mind, many analysts came up with their own analogies to getting a max contract. Similarly, former Philadelphia 76ers star Redick also came up with an interesting analogy.
On a recent episode of The Old Man & the Three, the former Sixers star discussed an array of topics such as the Dame-Harden trade and Brown’s max contract, while handing out tips to max out contacts. Importantly, he revealed timing to be an important factor for a max deal.
He explained, “So much of the NBA is timing… When you hit free agency… which teams have cap space.” [sic] He also suggested that players should time their free agency well and quoted Brown’s deal as an example of the same. Moreover, describing Jaylen Brown’s deal, he said, “It is the largest contract extension (in) NBA history …because of timing.”
Above all, he also predicted an upcoming trade which will eventually top Jaylen Brown’s $304 million deal.

After revealing the star’s name, the Sixers star also revealed the reasons for the star to earn the big money.
Who will earn the next biggest contract?
According to Redick, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic could be the next superstar to get the biggest NBA contract. He addressed how players target a super max contract when they reach their free agency. Following that, he mentioned how Doncic’s current contract matures in two years, and he could fetch a similar super max contract. He added, “We’re a couple years away from Luca signing a 400 million deal and becoming the first 400-million-dollar guy.”
