Even two decades after his retirement, the NBA world still drags Michael Jordan into various debates. On the other hand, the Greatest of All-time debate between MJ and LeBron James has a longstanding history. In addition to that, James’s former teammate ignited a Twitter wildfire lately when he made an outrageous claim about the Chicago Bulls legend. He claimed that his 24-year-old new teammate could lock-up prime Jordan, leaving Twitterati in shambles.

Larry Nance, who made this outrageous claim, played along with James in the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017-18 season. He accompanied the Akron Hammer during his last stretch in the Cavalier’s outstanding run. Even though the team reached the finals, they would withstand the Steph Curry force. Moreover, Nance later moved out of the Cavs and he is currently playing for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Former teammate of LeBron James makes huge claim

The story of the Pelicans has been a bumpy one, especially after the Zion Williamson saga. However, the team has more to offer than the Williamson issue. The 24-year-old Herbert Jones has come up the ranks with only two seasons under his name. The 6 ‘7 star fetched himself a good reputation for his new role as the team’s center. Moreover, the star’s teammate, Larry Nance, made a huge claim out of that.

Legion Hoops, a Twitter handle, tweeted a simple question about Michael Jordan to its followers. The tweet read, “Could any current NBA player lock up a prime Michael Jordan?” 

While the handle may have intended to highlight MJ’s offensive brilliance, but Nance had other ideas. He commented, “NOT. ON. HERB.”

Following his tweet, fans swarmed the comments, questioning the outrageous claim. Even though Jones showed signs of his brilliance, fans couldn’t tolerate the fact a 2-season-old rising star could “lock-up” MJ.

While some fans agreed to the claim, some disagreed. One user said, “Larry knows ball.” Here are some reactions from fans.

Notably, Jones’ teammates felt that he missed out on the Defensive Player of the Year award last despite his high-class performance, reported Sports Illustrated.

If Jones wins the award for the best defensive player, he will be the third player under 6 ‘8 to win that after Dennis Rodman and Draymond Green.
