The Dillon Brooks-LeBron James squabble has garnered much attention for various reasons. Be it the hot-headed 27-year-old’s consistency or the King’s reaction to it. One such thoroughly entertaining instance occurred when Brooks was still playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. The stage was the playoff series.

While Brooks had engaged in much trash-talking before the playoffs, the Canadian guard took it a step further. A hilarious incident ensued after LA’s Game 2 loss, which has become the screenplay for the Celtics legends to re-enact.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are the legends of the Boston Celtics. They are also pretty decent when it comes to roleplay. In his podcast, Garnett asked Pierce to re-enact the heated conversation between Bron and Brooks. What happens next is something not even James would have imagined in his wildest dreams.

Pierce (as LeBron) says to Brooks, “Let me change your diaper.” KG starts by showing Paul the video of the ‘Akron Hammer; walking up to Dillon Brooks. Then he asks him to try to figure out what exactly could have gone down.

Pierce wastes no time as he answers. “Ay’ man, what you talkin’ about right now? You talkin’ sh*t? A’right my ni**a, I got somethin’ for you. You know what, I ain’t gonna make no scene right here, but I’m at yo a**!” Apparently, this is exactly what LeBron said to Brooks.

The comic situation was further enhanced when Garnett proceeded to mime a child being disciplined. He pretends to take a kid, throw him onto his thigh, and slap the bottom a few times. Pierce finishes with the cherry on top. He imitates changing the diaper before sending the naughty kid off to do homework.

Even the onlookers see this petty bickering as nothing more than a child trying to get their parents’ attention or simply throwing a tantrum. So what happened to the grounded Brooks?

LeBron James “grounds” Brooks when he sent the Grizzlies packing

The first round of playoffs ended with the Lakers taking home the win. Over a six-series game, the Grizzlies managed to overpower the purple and gold twice (Game 2 and 5). Yet, that wasn’t enough to quench the heat that a thoroughly charged LeBron James brought.

By the Lakers’ third win, Brooks had started avoiding media sessions. And the sixth-game win saw him leave the arena without a word to the reporters or media. Throughout this, James had remained quiet until their ultimate sweeping of Memphis.

From pointed talks in the media to obviously targeted posts in social media, the “King” managed to get his revenge. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the end of Brooks’ woes. He was fined $25,000 for avoiding media sessions and since he was entering free agency the following summer, the Memphis Grizzlies announced their decision not to sign him again.

They went as far as to say they wouldn’t consider signing him in the future, either. Tough luck! But the Rockets decided they needed just someone like him. Despite everything, Dillon Brooks continues to “poke the bear”.
