Calvin Booth recently opened up about the franchise and its players ahead of their upcoming season. The team lost their last playoff clutch hero Bruce Brown in the off-season as he signed for the Indiana Pacers. With multiple teams interested in signing the 27-year-old at one point, Booth reminisced about the entire scenario.

“Some of these teams were trying to get Bruce,” the 47-year-old stated before adding, “Trying to make it worth it”. Right after this, he issued a warning to the league, saying, “Just be careful what you wish for,” as he backed Peyton Watson. Calvin mentioned, “Peyton’s bigger. He’s longer. He’s more athletic,” while talking about the starlet.

Booth praised the prowess of the talented youngster, highlighting, “He guards better. He passes better”. Despite this, the decision-maker accepted the reality, saying, “He doesn’t have the experience, and he’s not as good offensively yet”. “We need defense more than we need offense,” Calvin added, displaying faith in Watson.

With such great backing from the higher management, the eyes will be on the shooting guard now. With big shoes to fill in, one question becomes apparent.

Can Peyton Watson deliver on the promise?

Brown became an integral part of the championship-winning run of Denver’s side. Coming off the bench, he produced game-changing moments, including a putback layup in the Finals. Thus, losing him looked like a huge setback for the team. But following the words of Booth, it seemed like a calculated risk.

The organization wanted to think about the long term. As the franchise aimed to create a dynasty, they reorganized their priorities. Thus, at this stage of his career, Peyton received the support of the team. His teammate Christian Braun has also shown faith in the qualities of the versatile star.
