The 35-year-old point guard is averaging 30.7 points through 11 games this season and is still relevant for the Golden State Warriors. In these 15 years, the two-time MVP has led the franchise to four NBA championships. Along with that, the record-setting 73-9 regular season in 2016 just adds to his accolades as the face of the franchise. Although his looks and his game defy the aging process, the player is indeed moving towards a potential retirement.

However, the plans for his life off the court seem to be sorted out. His love for registering a win might get him introduced to ways to turn that into a reality. With Adam Silver’s new announcements, Stephen Curry‘s dream retirement career might just come true.

In a recent interview with Monte Poole and NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson on ‘Dub’s Talk’, Curry made a dashing appearance, making bold claims about his future in the NBA. When asked about his aspirations of being an NBA owner, Curry seemed ‘absolutely’ affirmative and didn’t flinch to say a ‘yes’. The Golden Boy said, “Absolutely. Understanding how the business is run and what all goes into this huge behemoth of an operation, it fascinates you to understand where the is the future headed? …I just want to be a part of an ownership group that is as excited, as I would be to obviously win, and be in a position where you are connecting with the community.”

Curry’s unwavering resilience toward recognizing the importance of having black-owned teams across the league adds to his stand on issues like gender and racial equality in sports. For the first time in 20 years, the NBA has entered a season without a single black-owned team. That’s not it; there’s not even one black majority owner in any of the four major American sports. In addition to this, Michael Jordan’s sale of the Charlotte Hornets also intensified the need to have a black-owned team in the NBA.

Although he said, “Hopefully, I’ll still be playing for a good while,” it’s no secret that the star is closer to the end of his career than the start. In cases like these, the ‘baby-faced assassin’ indeed has his eyes set on one day being an NBA owner. The Warriors star is the eighth highest-paid athlete in the world for 2023 at $100.4 million, as per Forbes. Moreover, his aspirations of being the owner of a group that is as excited as he is to win will set the bar for what Curry does off-court.

Apart from being a champion, the 35-year-old is business—absolutely business, adding to Adam Silver’s NBA dream.

Stephen Curry: Pro for Adam Silver’s future move

Time and again, Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, has consistently made statements about the league’s potential expansion. However, in a recent game between the Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks, he bombarded the audience with some interesting facts. As per NBA.com, when asked about the idea of a franchise in Mexico City, the commissioner opened things up for the masses to know. Although the dream has no place in the near future, as per Silver, “calling the move to Mexico City seems very doable.” Silver also mentioned how there’s interest from Vancouver and Montreal, as per Sportsnet.ca. The statement of expansion adds to the narrative of how the Magic-Hawks game was hosted in Mexico City in front of a sold-out crowd of 22,300 fans.

That’s the second major announcement on the topic of expansion after he dropped the news about adding teams from Seattle and Las Vegas in early July this year. Fans are eagerly waiting for a new team since Clay Bennet moved the SuperSonics to Oklahoma City. And along with the fans, Steph has his eyes on what is expected to be a blockbuster business plan. However, the first revelation is on the toss, because the work will be put in order once the league’s old TV rights expire. Of course, the media rights and the booming viewership can help the league mint some good money, and Silver is all affirmative about it.

Whatever the case may be, Curry’s aspirations have a higher probability of coming true, with there being just one black minority owner in the four major American sports. As Steph said, “I know [Adam Silver] has been adamant on keeping that as a priority of how the league trends moving forward,”. The void might help Steph set up his business in the NBA once retirement hits.
