Isaiah Thomas has found a way back to the NBA after almost 2 years. Thomas signed a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns. This was after a string of explosive performances in the G-League. IT earned his way back through a stint in Salt Lake City Stars. During his brief tenure, he averaged 32.5, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals points per game. In addition, he shot 40.7 percent from the field and 44.6 percent from three-point range.

According to a post on X Frank Vogel said, “Isaiah is someone we think is a hell of a player, has been a hell of a player throughout his career. We know he can still play from what he’s been doing in the G League.”

Thomas turned 35 recently, so his comeback in the league comes at a crucial stage. In his first stint with the Suns, he played just 46 games with them before being transferred to the Boston Celtics. There he became an All-Star and even reached the conference finals. However, a tragic hip injury took away his speed. As a result, stripping him of his ability to penetrate opposing defenses easily. Which was a massive hit to his stellar average of 28.2 points every night and eventually his exit from the NBA.

Since then, he has tried to fight his way back into the league and has made a lot of headway without ever giving up.

Born to a Lakers fan, his dad bet his friend that he would name his newborn son after the Bad Boy Pistons star if Los Angeles lost the 1989 NBA finals. Isiah Thomas and his bad boys swept Pat Riley’s Lakers 4-0 and the rest is history. Thomas’ father’s manic love for basketball made him pursue the game despite a small 5’9″ frame.

Following his victory in the G League game with the Stars, Thomas expressed his longing for the NBA, stating to The Athletic, “I just love this s**t too much… Whether it was ups or downs, I’m back playing basketball. I’m back healthy. It’s just a super cool feeling because I never thought I would be able to play with no pain no more.”
