Brandon Ingram’s path ahead looks hazy after the alarming injury incurred against Orlando Magic. The New Orleans Pelicans have had an explosive stretch this month, courtesy of the mighty Ingram-Zion duo. However, following the 26-year-old forward’s mortifying knee injury tonight, the spectacle ahead remains uncertain.

Jesse Morse, a Sports Physician, took to his X handle immediately after Ingram’s fall to drop his predictions. The post read, “Brandon Ingram, Left knee hyperextension. Options for this can range from bone bruise and mild knee sprain (PCL?) to torn meniscus to ACL tear. Let’s hope it’s on the milder side.”

Dr. Morse’s post, though only predictions, highlight the seriousness Brandon Ingram might stand to adorn. The dreaded situation arrived during the third quarter of tonight’s game when Ingram tried to guard Orlando Magic’s Jalen Suggs. While Suggs ran up the lane, Ingram missed his footing and hyper-extended his left knee.

The 26-year-old forward was visibly in immense pain as he held on to his knee after the fall. Following the instance, he was assisted off the court and didn’t return to the remainder of the game. Unfortunately, the setback led the Pelicans to suffer a blowout 121-106 loss.

Things could further prove challenging for the Pelicans if Ingram’s injury continues to deem serious. The New Orleans side was just a win away from pulling down the LA Clippers from the fourth seed and entering the top four of the West ladder. Thus, a need to gain the momentum back ahead proves essential for the team, relaying rather majorly on their forward’s updates.

When will Brandon Ingram return to the court?

The Pelicans have put up a great show this season after the strong comeback from Zion Williamson. This dominant side’s consistency kept them hanging on the West ladder above lethal teams like the Lakers, Warriors, Suns, and the Mavs. However, now, the team’s postseason glory could even depend on Ingram’s return.

A comeback timeline for the Pelicans’ forward depends on the severity of the injury aforementioned. If it were a mild sprain MCL, Ingram would take at least two weeks to return and would not require surgery. But, if it turned out to be an ACL tear, then the star would have to undergo a season-ending surgery.

The latter of the scenario was encountered by Philadelphia 76ersJoel Embiid who underwent a successful surgery. The forward, hence, was obliged to miss nearly two months in this regular season. The instance offers a definite scare for Ingram, Pelicans, and the spectators. However, one could only await an official diagnosis.
