As Horrendous Drops Show Chiefs Need Travis Kelce, LeBron James Fans Sympathize With Pat Mahomes: “What More Can He Do?”

After winning the 2023 Super Bowl, fans have high hopes for Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs. With the superstar duo of Quarterback Mahomes and Tight end Travis Kelce, the Chiefs are a force to be reckoned with. But, their high from winning the Super Bowl came crashing down when they suffered a loss in the season opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday. A major reason for the defending Champions’ 20-21 loss was the absence of their star tight end Travis Kelce.

Kelce hyperextended his knee during practice and missed the opening match of the season. His absence exposed the Chiefs’ need to acquire better receivers as Patrick Mahomes was left stranded on an island with all receivers dropping key passes in the match. Watching the 2-time Super Bowl Champion struggle without his partner garnered sympathy from 4-time Champion LeBron James’ fans on social media.

Patrick Mahomes puts the Chiefs on his back

In the NFL season opener, Patrick Mahomes had an incredible performance, finishing with 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, and completing 21 of his 39 passes. But, Mahomes got no support from his receivers as none of them could even touch the 50-yard mark. Several dropped passes despite the star Quarterback’s accurate throws, exposed the team’s weakness without Kelce. The defending champions suffered their first loss of the season due to the team’s underwhelming performance.

The Chiefs are expected to bounce back in the next match as their tight end, Travis Kelce, is expected to make a return in Week 2. The duo of Mahomes and Kelce are hard to beat when they are on the field together. But the rest of the team needs to step their game up if they want to win back-to-back Super Bowls.

LeBron James fans sympathize with Patrick Mahomes

Seeing NFL legend Patrick Mahomes carry the Kansas City Chiefs all by himself reminded the NBA fans of LeBron James’ finals runs with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Just like Mahomes, King James put the Cleveland Cavaliers on his back from 2003-2010 and then again from 2017-2018, leading them to multiple NBA finals. With a mediocre roster, The Akron Hammer put up legendary performances one after the other.
