The 2023-24 NBA offseason has surely been a rollercoaster ride for the Charlotte Hornets. Two big pieces of news were Michael Jordan selling his share of the Hornets and the team picking Brandon Miller over Scoot Henderson in the 2023 NBA draft. If that weren?t enough, Hornets? Kai Jones has been another thing Charlotte may need to worry about.
Kai Jones has been restricted from attending any training camps until further notice. However, amid all the Jones drama, the Hornets head coach has some great plans for their All-Star LaMelo Ball and the team?s future.

The Charlotte Hornets have not had good luck in NBA drafts despite getting multiple top picks over the years. Whether Brandon Miller will turn out to be what the team expected is too early to tell but one player surely did become the team?s savior.
That is none other than LaMelo Ball. The younger brother of Lonzo Ball was an instant fan favorite as soon as he came out onto the NBA floor. And he has shown a level of consistency any fan or head coach looks for.
In a recent interview with the CharlotteObserver, Hornets head coach Steve Clifford was asked about his plans for LaMelo Ball. Clifford spoke highly of Ball?s defensive skills and how far he has come over the past year.
Steve Clifford emphasized on his pick-and-roll game. He mentioned how he can be a truly great pick-and-roll player and he would want him to indulge in more pick-and-rolls that are not just with centers.
?We want to get him involved in more pick-and-rolls with different combinations. Not just with centers. With the other perimeter players also. He?s terrific anyway, but that can get his game to the next level,? added Clifford.

Plus, that may also be the reason why the Hornets did not go for Scoot Henderson and went with Brandon Miller instead. The franchise wanted a wing instead of another guard, so let?s see if that works out for them in the future.
And hopefully, LaMelo Ball has another breakout season for the team in the 2023-24 NBA season.
