LeBron James‘ hometown charitable initiative to improve and transform the lives of at-risk parents and children is getting bad reviews. Even as The King brought his vision to life in 2018 through the I Promise School incorporated into the Akron Public Schools system, the recent assessment has highlighted some serious issues. But the Chosen One is upbeat about his cause and campaign.

Though the goal of the school is to have a beneficial impact on the neighborhood, recent reports have raised questions regarding the children’s academic achievement. But LeBron James’ commitment to the cause remains unwavering. He draws inspiration from the school for his recent collaboration with a billion-dollar company.

The Los Angeles Lakers star recently worked on a promotional campaign with a $112.38 Billion worth company, Sony, in the midst of debates about the academic success of the I Promise School. James was questioned during the campaign regarding the source of the iconic Playstation controller’s design. LeBron responded by saying that the I Promise School and the kids in his neighborhood inspired the design.

Along with his iconic King crown, the controller sports motivational phrases associated with James himself, including “Nothing is given, everything is earned” and “The Chosen One.”

“The inspiration behind the design is IPS, I Promise School, kids, back in my community,” James said, in the interview.

While his latest collaboration with Sony will definitely help the gaming platform, the all-time points leader hopes to reach a bigger audience with this partnership.

I Promise School‘s impact and challenges

The I Promise School has worked hard to develop a welcoming and loving atmosphere for both its children and parents since it opened its doors in 2018. By giving at-risk adolescents the tools they need to achieve academically and beyond, the school hopes to solve the problems they encounter.

Although the institution’s purpose is admirable, recent Akron Beacon Journal publications have highlighted some academic challenges.
