A year ago, Milwaukee Bucks point guard Jrue Holiday was traded to the Boston Celtics. Holiday was with Milwaukee for 3 years and had shared the spotlight with renowned ballers like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. The transition allowed Holiday to draw up a comparison and see where the members of his current team stood. After having played over 60 games with the Celtics, the player formed an opinion that led to his former teammate being placed in the backseat.
In the aftermath of the Celtics’ recent win against the Suns, NBC reporter Abby Chin received an opportunity to get a 1 on 1 session with Jrue Holiday himself. When asked what he thinks about Celtics power forward Al Horford, Holiday didn’t have to think for long before giving his answer. “He’s the O.G.,” said Holiday. “He’s probably the most reliable player I’ve ever played with.”
Jrue Holiday gave the highest praise to Al Horford tonight:
“Al’s the OG, but he’s the most reliable player I’ve ever played with. Being able to be on the court with him is an honor. Being out there with him, I just know everything’s going to go well.”

For someone who spent 3 years alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, calling another player the “O.G.” and “the most reliable” would indicate that Holiday greatly respects the 37-year-old Celtics power forward. “I think being able to be on the court with him is an honor,” Holiday continued during the interview. “Being out there with him, I just know everything is going to go well. Every time he gets on the court you just know he’s going to do something great.”
Holiday revealed in the same interview that Horford started the recent game off for the team “going crazy”, and he was right. During his 33 minutes on the court, Horford scored a season-high 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. An update by ‘Statmuse’ revealed that his recent performance allowed him to make NBA history by becoming the oldest player to score 5+ triples and 3+ steals in a game.

Al Horford has devoted over 17 years of his life to the NBA, 6 of which he has spent with the Celtics. During the 1,068 regular season games in which he has appeared, the player has maintained an average of 13.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. He reached his career-high average of 18.6 points during his 7th overall season with the Atlanta Hawks.
While he hasn’t had the opportunity to possess a championship ring under his name, Horford has gotten himself named to the All-Star team 5 times. Horford possesses a remarkable shooting ability. Throughout his 14 seasons with five different teams, the player maintained an average field goal percentage of 51.2%, a free throw percentage of a whopping 76%, and a three-point percentage of 37.7%.
On the other hand, Giannis Antetokounmpo ended Milwaukee’s 50-year-title drought in 2021. He is also currently one of the league’s biggest players and an uber MVP candidate for the 2024 season. However, Horford and the Celtics are currently on top of the Eastern Conference with 52 wins while the Bucks are at number two with 43 wins. What are your thoughts on Jrue Holiday’s perspective?
