Known for keeping his fan base engaged through active interactions on social media, Kawakami addressed a fan’s query regarding the situation surrounding Wiggins.

Kawakami indicated that while a trade deal for Wiggins might be a viable option for the Warriors, there’s a significant reason they’re unlikely to pursue it. This reason stems from the fact that Wiggins willingly accepted a pay cut to remain with the team.

Before the 2022-23 NBA season, Golden State Warriors had the privilege of lifting their fourth championship in eight years. Given his Finals heroic, Warriors secured a multiyear extension with Andrew Wiggins, valued at $109 million.

Wiggins consciously decided to take a pay cut of early $10 million to continue playing with the Warriors.
