A basketball player having a shoe deal with a brand signifies his impact on the world. Fans do not buy the shoes because it has some outstanding features or some new colorway, they buy them because their favorite player wears them. Michael Jordan was the first player to revolutionize these sneaker deals in the NBA. He was the first person to ever have his own signature shoe called “Air Jordan,” in collaboration with Nike.
After that, the brands started recognizing the influence basketball players have on the fans and collaborated with the players to make their own signature shoes.
Stephen Curry is also a player who has his own sneaker line in collaboration with Under Armour. He initially teamed up with the brand in 2013 for a deal valued at $4 million per year. Since then, the duo has launched an impressive 10 signature shoes together, setting a historic precedent in Under Armour’s history. Curry has even started his own brand in collaboration with Under Armour called “Curry Brand”. Due to the global impact Curry possesses, the brand today has a market cap of $3.34 billion.
