The Memphis Grizzlies‘ young prodigy Ja Morant was at the top of his career. His performances on the court were simply outstanding. At the pace, Morant was evolving his game, he was destined to be one of the greats. But one incident has ruined his career tarnished his. The star was seen waving a gun on Instagram live which created a controversy leading the NBA to ban the player.

Due to this controversy, Morant has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. However, the young athlete has accepted his mistake and is trying to be a better role model for all his fans and supporters. However, in a recent interview, a famous comedian commented on this controversy and had a hilarious – though insightful – reaction.

A comedian’s honest reaction to the incident

Ja Morant’s journey to the NBA had been spectacular. Coming from a small town the boy had big dreams and did not fall short in achieving them. He dominated in his college basketball performances. And due to his spectacular displays, he caught the attention of scouts and was drafted by the Grizzlies, as the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. And due to his outstanding gameplay and charisma, the player immediately gained a large fandom.

But his career started going downhill when he was seen waving a gun on his Instagram Live. Due to that, the NBA suspended him for 8 games without pay. This suspension even had him miss the All-Star NBA selection and cost him a staggering $39 million. However, it didn’t look like he learned his lesson and went on to make matters worse. He was again spotted waving firearms in a viral video. In his defense, he claimed that it was a fake firearm, nothing else. But it led to the NBA further suspending him for 25 games in the 2023-24 season.

This suspension not only meant a further loss of income but also made Morant ineligible for any major awards.

Recently in an interview Aries Spears, a famous comedian, was asked about his thoughts on this incident. He said, “Everybody wanna show out for the gram, and due to this day and age, you show your thug level.”

He further added, “I don’t know too much about him, but I perceived that he was on some thug s**t. But then everyone told me that he comes from a great middle-class home and wears leather moccasins with no socks. But then when you come from that environment you can’t?wait to show off.”

Morant accepts his mistake

Realizing his mistakes, Morant took it to social media and took responsibility for his actions. He apologized to the NBA, his team, teammates, and his supporters for all the pain he caused them.

He realized that he needs to be a better role model for his fans and now has an obligation to do so. But the damage had already been done as Morant started losing his endorsements. Nike briefly removed his signature shoes but due to his heartfelt apology, did bring them back. Even other brands noticed the remorse the basketball star has about his actions and showed him some support.

Even though Spears is right about people doing stuff for the gram, Morant is trying to change for good. As he returns to the NBA, the whole world is eager to witness the rise of a more mature and responsible Ja Morant, both on and off the court.
